Japlenški vrh park-forest, nestled just outside Delnice in the heart of Gorski kotar, is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Spanning 173 hectares at altitudes between 750 and 842 meters, this protected area has been welcoming visitors since 1953. The park-forest offers a diverse landscape that changes with the seasons: spring brings carpets of wildflowers, summer is marked by blooming cyclamen, autumn offers a bounty of mushrooms, and winter reveals animal tracks in the snow.
The main hiking trail starts near the “Lovački dom” restaurant and hotel, close to a fallow deer farm, making it an accessible and family-friendly outing. The 3-kilometer path is rated as easy and features educational boards about the local flora and fauna, enhancing the experience for curious walkers. One of the park’s unique features is a 70-meter ski jumping ramp, built in 1947, which now serves as a scenic viewpoint over Delnice and the surrounding forests.
