Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn)

Zlatni Rat, commonly known as the Golden Horn, is a distinctive pebble cape extending into the Adriatic Sea on the southern coast of Brač Island, near the town of Bol. This natural landmark is famous for its unique shape-shifting form, which changes constantly due to wind, waves, and currents. Because of this dynamic movement, the beach’s appearance varies significantly from day to day, making it nearly impossible to capture two identical photographs of the site. The cape stretches approximately 500 meters in length and features smooth pebbles that offer a more comfortable surface than typical rocky shores.

Visitors experience a striking contrast in water conditions just meters apart. One side of the cape typically offers calm, turquoise waters ideal for swimming and sunbathing, while the other side generates surfable waves driven by the Maestral wind. This makes Zlatni Rat a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, particularly windsurfers and kitesurfers. The landscape is framed by pine forests and the backdrop of Vidova Gora, the highest peak on Adriatic islands, providing scenic views for hikers and photographers.

Access to the beach is straightforward, with a scenic promenade connecting Bol town to the cape. The area is well-equipped for tourists, offering facilities for relaxation and water activities. The natural expansion of the beach, which has grown by about 80 meters since 2006 without human intervention, highlights the ongoing geological processes shaping this iconic Croatian landmark.
