Chiesa Di Santa Lucia, also known as the Church of St. Lucia, is a significant historical and cultural landmark located in Jurandvor near Baška, Croatia. This Romanesque church, dating back to the High Middle Ages, is renowned for its single-nave structure, semicircular apse, and bell tower, which was added during renovations in the 14th century. The church stands on the foundations of a 4th-century farm and was once part of a Benedictine monastery, the remains of which can still be seen today.

The church is most famous for housing the Baška tablet, one of Croatia’s oldest and most important historical monuments. The tablet, inscribed in Glagolitic script around 1100, is notable for being the first document to mention the word “Croatian” and King Zvonimir. While the original Baška tablet is now kept in Zagreb, a replica is displayed in the church, and the Glagolitic script has become a symbol of Baška, commemorated by large sculptures along the road to the town.

Visitors to Chiesa Di Santa Lucia can explore the church’s rich history, admire the Polyptych of St. Lucy, and gain insight into the region’s medieval heritage. The site is an archaeological treasure, offering a peaceful setting for reflection and learning. While specific opening hours and admission fees are not provided, the church remains a must-see for anyone interested in Croatian history and culture.
