Velički grad-Lapjak-Jankovac-Jezerce-Duboka route

The Velički grad–Lapjak–Jankovac–Jezerce–Duboka route is one of the most rewarding hiking trails in Papuk Nature Park, Croatia’s first geopark and a true gem of Slavonia. This scenic route weaves through some of the park’s most beautiful landscapes, offering hikers a blend of natural wonders and cultural heritage. Starting at Velički grad, the ruins of a medieval fortress, the trail leads you along forested slopes and rocky outcrops, with panoramic views of the surrounding hills.

As you continue, you’ll reach Lapjak and then the renowned Jankovac Forest Park, a lush valley at 475 meters elevation. Jankovac is famous for its cold springs, clear streams, and tranquil lakes, making it a perfect spot for a rest or a picnic. The route then passes by Jezerce, a serene forest lake, before descending to Duboka, where you can find mountain cabins and facilities for an overnight stay.

The trail is well-marked and suitable for experienced hikers, with a mix of gravel and forest paths. Along the way, you’ll encounter diverse flora and fauna, dramatic rock formations, and the peaceful ambiance that defines Papuk.
