Zrće’s rise to fame began in the early 2000s, when its remote location and unspoiled setting attracted the attention of music promoters and club owners. Before that the bay was a quiet swimming spot used by people from Novalja, and the first club, Kalypso, opened here and is often counted as the first of the beach clubs. Over the years the beach has grown into one of Europe’s top summer party destinations, drawing thousands of visitors from across the continent. The beach is lined with open-air clubs such as Papaya, Aquarius, Kalypso and Noa, each hosting international DJs, themed parties and music festivals that run from late spring through early autumn. Events like Hideout Festival, Sonus and Fresh Island have established Zrće’s reputation as a global party capital, and festival tickets often sell out months ahead.

During the day, Zrće offers a more relaxed mood, with many opportunities for rest and recreation. The long pebbly shoreline is good for sunbathing and swimming, while the clear, shallow water suits paddleboarding, jet skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Those who want sleep should look for accommodation in Novalja rather than right behind the clubs.

Getting to Zrće is straightforward. The beach is located about 2 km from Novalja and is easily reached by shuttle buses, taxis or on foot. The island of Pag is connected to the mainland by a bridge, and regular buses run from Zadar, Rijeka and other major cities. Accommodation options range from hotels and hostels to private apartments and campsites, with many visitors choosing to stay in Novalja for convenience.

The best time to visit Zrće is from late June to early September, when the weather is hot, the sea is warm and the festival calendar is in full swing. July and August are the busiest months, with the biggest events and crowds, while late spring and early autumn offer a more relaxed atmosphere and pleasant temperatures.
