Aljmaš Marian Shrine

The Aljmaš Marian Shrine, also known as the Sanctuary of Lady of Shelter or the Church of Our Lady of Refuge, is a prominent spiritual and cultural landmark in the village of Aljmaš, Croatia. Situated near the confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers, the shrine is easily recognizable by its striking modern architecture, often described as resembling Noah’s Ark. The sanctuary faced further devastation during the Homeland War in 1991, but has since been restored, continuing its legacy as the most important Marian shrine in Slavonia.
