M7 Tabak

M7 Tabak is a small tobacconist and convenience shop in Goričan, a village in the far north of Međimurje County, right beside the main road and the border crossing with Hungary. The county town of Čakovec, with its large castle and museum, lies about twenty-five kilometres to the south-east, and the vineyards and wine cellars of the Štrigova hills are a short drive to the west.

If you are entering Croatia here, it is wise to check current border formalities, since conditions change, and to keep passports and vehicle documents handy. The shop is a good place to buy small items and ask for advice, but for a proper meal or an overnight stay, you will do better in Čakovec or in one of the guest houses and wine cellars in the villages.

Allow ten minutes for a stop. The shop suits travellers who are passing through and who need a quick break before continuing south. If you have more time, consider a detour into the villages of Međimurje to see a part of Croatia that few foreign visitors explore.
